Pyotr Il’ich Tchaikovsky quotes an extended excerpt from the essay Le Freyschütz de Weber from À Travers Chants in his own translation in the paper Русские ведомости of 23 April 1873 (see his feuilleton The Italian opera, republished in: Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Музыкально-критические статьи.
