* Karen Cargill, who were to sing the role of Béatrice, was taken ill and unable to participate in this performance, and a replacement for her could not be found. All the parts which included the role of Béatrice were cut. Also cut were two choruses, “Mourez, tendres époux”  from act I and “Chœur lointain” from act II. The highlights constituted the first half of the concert. In the second half Beethoven’s Eroica was performed.
